A wedding day is full of people, emotions and moving parts that ultimately sync to a single timeline and a truly life changing event. Who is supposed to coordinate the sometimes chaotic day? The answer is a team of wedding professionals who have your best interest in mind.
In an industry full of details and professionals with specific niches, there are many titles thrown around and it can get very confusing. Two of the roles that we get the most questions about is the difference between a venue coordinator and wedding coordinator. Although they both are hired to serve the couple, the two roles have different focuses when it comes to wedding day.
A venue coordinator is wholly focused on optimizing how the venue serves the couple on the big day. This includes understanding the vision for the day, receiving a timeline and executing the venues duties. The venue coordinator is tasked with making sure the venue is unlocked, tables and chairs are set up, the lounges for the bridal party are clean and comfortable, be present during set up and verify all vendors have everything they need to set up and that the venue regulations are being followed. The venue coordinator is not the host of the evening, they are running around behind the scenes making sure that the venue is serving the needs of the day.
A wedding coordinator is focused on executing the vision for the wedding day as a whole and easing any stress on the couple. The wedding coordinator can serve as a decorator, liaison for vendors throughout the setup process and attend to the bridal party needs. The wedding coordinator creates and implements the timeline and coordinates all of the announcements and details throughout the wedding day. A wedding coordinator will take care of any last minute changes and emergencies that come up on your wedding day.
Both roles are important and can work together to execute a seamless wedding day. We hope this article has helped define the differences between a venue coordinator and wedding coordinator.
