The Brownstone’s approach to re-opening

Hi Friends,

Last Thursday, the governor of Kansas provided a 4 step approach to reopening the state. As the Brownstone prepares to reopen for events, we want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to help our clients have the best day ever.

We are building on an ever-present focus on cleanliness and continually assessing ways to enhance your safety yet make sure your event is fun and successful. Your safety continues to be our top priority and our staff is taking every precaution to make sure that your wedding, reception and event is safe and happy.

Below is the outline of how the Brownstone will implement the Kansas reopen phased approach –

Phase One : Begins May 4th

Phase Two : Begins no earlier than May 18th

  • Mass gatherings of no more than 30 individuals.
  • The Brownstone will hold individual in-person tours with no more than 10 people.
  • The Brownstone will hold a monthly open house that will require all attendees to sign-up for a private 30-minute meeting with a coordinator.
  • The Brownstone will hold celebrations and workshops with less than 30 people.

Phase Three : Begins no earlier than June 1st

  • Mass gatherings of no more than 90 individuals allowed.
  • The Brownstone will hold individual in-person tours.
  • The Brownstone will hold a monthly open house.
  • The Brownstone will hold celebrations and workshops with less than 90 individuals.

Phase Out : Begins no earlier than June 15th

  • No limitation but maintain social distance where applicable
  • The Brownstone will hold individual in-person tours.
  • The Brownstone will hold a monthly open house.
  • The Brownstone will hold celebrations and workshops based on the guidance of the state and CDC recommendations.

Your guests are not strangers in a public place. They are your friends gathering in a place that is taking every precaution.

Here are a few additional policies The Brownstone is putting in place –

  • The Brownstone has most ceremonies outside in the open air which allows for guests to spread out and is healthier.
  • The Brownstone has created social distancing layouts based on each phase that includes limiting the number of guests at a table, spreading tables out, separating guests into multiple locations including outside and lower level.
  • The Brownstone has an option to rent a tent to extend the venue and space for tables.
  • The Brownstone has technology to stream the main event hall into the lower level.
  • We will be offering a live-streaming service at an additional cost to stream the ceremony and reception to other locations at The Brownstone or online for guests to watch anywhere in the world.
  • The Brownstone has beautiful double doors on both the north and south sides of the venue which we can leave open in the pleasant spring temperatures to let the fresh air inside.
  • Our staff has always followed mandated operating procedures for health and safety as required by the State of Kansas. This includes but is not limited to the use of gloves, proper hand-washing techniques, following food safety protocols, and performing proper disinfecting procedures within our kitchen and event spaces.
  • It has always been our policy that a staff member cannot report to work if they feel ill or are presenting any symptoms.
  • We have intensified cleaning procedures to ensure our building is more deeply disinfected to prevent germs from spreading and to ensure your safety.
  • We will have hand sanitation stations at the front door allowing your guests to put on hand sanitizer when they arrive and again as they enter the building after the conclusion of a ceremony.
  • Hand sanitizer will always be available at all entrances for the duration of your event.
  • We recommend rolling knives and forks inside napkins and have them on the tables for dinner – or you can choose to use plastic utensils in sealed wraps for your event.
  • We recommend having a single sided buffet with your caterer serving the food to your guests.

The Brownstone’s goal is to make this the happiest day of your life. Please call or email if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Abbey Brown
