What’s the word with J.Lynn Bridal

We believe in supporting other amazing wedding vendors in our community, so I decided to head to the downtown district of Lawrence, KS to meet with the Owner Jena Dick of J.Lynn Bridal and get the scoop of 2021 trends and life after a global pandemic.

Located in the heart of historic downtown Lawrence, J.Lynn Bridal is a hip little boutique that specializes in wedding and formal attire. From classic to boho to couture- they have an eclectic mix of styles and sizes to suit every bride. During your appointment, you can expect their friendly and knowledgeable staff to work within your budget, wedding date, and personal style.

I sat down with Jena to gain some insight on the pandemic and how it has impacted wedding dress shopping.
“It’s made dress shopping very sporadic! As soon as we reopened after the Quarantine brides were needing their dress asap. If we didn’t have enough time to reorder, we sold what we had on hand. It’s been a rollercoaster. Brides need dresses immediately and next minute weddings are on hold or canceled. We feel for engaged couples, it’s been hard.”

Did you have to set new restrictions for the amount of people brides could bring with them to appointments? Do you think there was a positive impact on smaller groups during wedding dress shopping?
“Yes, when we first reopened we asked brides to only bring 1 or 2 guests. We have expanded that to 4 guests per bride. They are welcome to include additional guests via Zoom. Honestly, a lot of our brides like the limit because they secretly don’t want a big entourage at their appointment.”

Have you noticed any new styles introduced throughout the past year that could have been caused due to the pandemic?
“For the most part brides still want a typical wedding gown, but yes there have been more requests for ‘less dress’. Some weddings were moved to backyards and to more intimate locations and some brides want the dress to fit the occasion.”

Are wedding jumpsuits a new trend?
“I hope so! I’ve had jumpsuit options for awhile and they haven’t really caught on here unfortunately.”

What do you want your brides to walk away with as far as experience while wedding dress shopping at J.Lynn Bridal?
“I want all of my brides to leave feeling beautiful and relieved knowing they are in good hands. We take care of our clients and love seeing them light up with excitement.”

What types of dresses/gowns would you say are most popular at J.Lynn bridal?
“I’d say the most popular style is a-line with some boho vibes.”

What would you say the 2021 trends are regarding wedding dresses, veils, etc?
“Trend: Off the shoulder
Trend: Clean all over – crepe or satin or mikado
Hopeful Trend: Bridal Capes!!!!!! This replaces the veil. I have a good selection!!”
